Forward daily forward!

Let's keep rocking some epic Hip shows, for Gord, Gord, Johnny, Paul and Rob.

Last month's show was killer, and this month I get to pick, so I hope I can keep that ball rolling.

We're going through a show from each album era, and this November, we reach Road Apples.

A recording from 3 weeks after the release of Road Apples that was broadcast on FM radio I think?

1991-03-08 - Tucson, Arizona

1. Little Bones
2. She Didn't Know
3. Twist My Arm
4. Highway Girl
5. Everytime You Go
6. Bring It All Back
7. Boots or Hearts
8. Trickle Down
9. 38 Years Old
10. Three Pistols
11. I'll Believe In You (Or I'll Be Leaving You Tonight)
12. New Orleans Is Sinking
13. On The Verge
14. Long Time Running
15. Blow At High Dough
16. Train Kept A Rollin'

I've listened to several 91 era shows to try and determine my selection since learning I was selected for the Road Apples show, and in the end I went with the most recent one I just listened to for the first time two days ago.

You guys will love the 'hints of KillerWhaleTank' NOIS. Gordie gets a bunch of feedback through the monitors and gets pissed. Its great. I'm not sure this is the full show, or just what was broadcast to FM radio. They battle through the feedback and bang out a classic set. I'm excited to listen to this all of November. Hope it brings a smile to all of yer faces, you magnificent Hipbase bastards.

EAT ME COMPLETELY

Hey Mark,

I think we may have found the quintessential version of Train Kept A Rollin' for you with this one!

This is a fun show with the band firing on all cylinders.

As mentioned the frogman/killer whale tank version of NOIS is great. Again it shows how Gord was continuing to play with the 'dumping the body' phrase for awhile before it ever appeared on Locked.

The version of Highway girl is every bit as good as the double suicide version.

On the verge is rocking, I've never heard a live version of this song that isn't great!

Finally got a chance to listen to a bit of the show - my first thought is how awesome Little Bones is as an opener. Big loud rocker that just rips into things.

Although She Didn't Know is not my favourite Hip tune (still good), it's a very solid follow up and keeps the tempo up. Interesting to hear some ad-libbing in there as I don't recall Gord ever doing anything with this song before.

Twist My Arm is just a great intro riff and this is a great version of this song. Lots of fun!

Hopefully can listen a bit more tonight.

Good high energy Highway Girl; sounds really good and the rant is one that I remember from back in my bootleg cassette days. As well, interesting to hear Gord just riffing lyrics at the end; some right and others whatever comes to mind - hard to tell if he's forgotten the words or if he's just playing.

Seems Trickle Down had a little miscue at the beginning; everything else seems very tight.

Really good 38 Years Old; lots of energy and great grit with this performance.

All cylinders firing for Three Pistols; great intro and the guitar tones are just about perfect.

The frogman NOIS; remember this one well and great to revisit it. Rob's solo as they bring things back together is really fun gives great cover for everyone else to get back in the groove

Have always really enjoyed the energy of On The Verge live and this is no exception

Very good version of Long Time Running followed by a great change to Blow with lots of energy and off we go again. Everybody sounds locked in and a great version of this with some very nice little fills by Rob.

Train Kept A Rollin' - one of the few songs where you get to hear Johnny's speed on the drums; interesting to hear as his drumming is usually pretty much just in the pocket and not really flashy.

Great show!

It's funny; on starting through this boot I remember listening to it quite a while ago and even remember the "Goddamn it Vick!" line. However, for some reason, I never put together that he was yelling at Mark about the feedback.

Energy in this show was fantastic, as mentioned

Hilarious story/intro to three pistols THE BEST SHAPED TREES IN THE WORLD, THE BEST SHAPED TREES IN THE WORLD

Wonder if the whale sounds/feedback were created as intentional theatrics by Gord, or unintentional and he came up with that on the spot. Love it regardless
