"View New Posts" not working properly

Has anybody else had this problem lately? Whereas when I used to click on 'view new posts' it would only show me the posts I haven't seen since I last logged in, now it's showing me all of the new posts (whether I've seen them or not) over the last several weeks. Mods? Admin? Someone else that I haven't thought of? Thanks!

Most site features don't open up until you reach 5 (or 10? I can't always remember) posts. We were invaded by spambots a couple of years ago and these security features were put in place to prevent that from happening again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I wish this button showed up on more than just the Board Index page. Once you click view new posts and click on a post, the "view new posts" disappears and you can't just return back to it without hitting "back" a bunch of times or going back to "Board index" and then view new posts again
Just a thought. haha
