Hipbase Bootleg Show of the Month: April 2017
Happy April everybody! We're back!
I am tinkering this, and we will now be featuring a show every month instead of random weeks.
Hipbaser Joshwayy selected this show. The show he selected is....
1996-11-29 - Kanata, Ontario - Paul's Arena
Setlist: http://www.thehip.com/shows/733/
The show can be downloaded using the following link:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... i1TZFgzZG8
Here is what Hipbaser Joshwayy had to say about his selection
Recorded shortly after the Live Between us in Detroit, this is one of my favorites. The band was touring in support of Hen House and was firing on all cylinders. Highlights for me are the opener Gift Shop, a crazy long 15 minute rant filled Meridian (The wreck of low inome housing!), Don't Wake Daddy, Wheat Kings, Nautical (Sharks guitar solo) and a personal favs Escape is at Hand (which may have been been known as Stereo at he time) and Inevitability of Death which in my opinion is a perfect song featuring the varying talents of the band both lyrically, vocally, and stylistacally. I so wanted this to be the last song they played at the final show...
Enjoy. Long live das Hips!
Two of these songs were featured on 'Liveponymous' the live version of the 'Hipeponymous' release which I had a lot of fun putting together with a little help from my friends here at the base.

How the hell does an audience recording from 1996 sound so crisp and clear?

I have not listened to the above version mentioned lately, yet, but this night and the previous night had soundboard via analog releases.sean.bonner wrote:How the hell does an audience recording from 1996 sound so crisp and clear?

Does anyone have copies of those soundboards?I have not listened to the above version mentioned lately, yet, but this night and the previous night had soundboard via analog releases.
And yes, the audience recording is pretty sweet from what I've sampled so far.

Loving my first listen of this pick. Excited to spin it a few more times and get more familiar.
As mentioned, the sound is incredible.
(Sound that makes the headphones edible
Awake, affiliated and indelible)
Is this the best meridian of all time? If not, it surely deserves an honorable mention.
I wanted them to play the song that meant the most to them, and not feel the pressure to close with a crowd pleaser. Perhaps it would be way off the map, something from the EP Last American Exit or Small town bringdown to have things "full circle." Maybe ABAC was the song that meant the most to them?
Fantastic memories either way

IOD as final song crossed my mind back when we were speculating on what the final song of the tour may be. Another baser posted world container, which I never would have thought of, and that was an interesting choice that probably would have brought the waterworks.sean.bonner wrote:Inevitability of Death which in my opinion is a perfect song featuring the varying talents of the band both lyrically, vocally, and stylistacally. Such a killer version of Fire in the Hole.
This is a great show, one that I stumbled across years ago, and was a lot of fun to revisit.
